How I work

At the core of my approach to therapy is that we are designed for- and heal within- relationships.

Clients tell me that I am warm, patient, welcoming, and honest. Therapy with me is an opportunity for you to fully allow yourself to move through your healing journey, knowing that I am holding the walls up for us. I deeply value the relationship I have with my clients, and often joke that therapy doesn’t start working until you can get mad at me- it’s how I know you feel safe enough to be yourself.

Prior to becoming a marriage and family therapist, I’ve always found a way to be with people. I’ve been a live-in au pair on an island, ran a call center, and played college soccer in Scotland. I’ve worked as a music therapist in the Southwest where I led a Parkinson’s choir, helped children write songs as they received chemo treatments, and facilitated end of life care with the ICU palliative care team. I’ve calmed homesick college students, worked in crisis response for the Nashville tornadoes and made food boxes happen for low income families during a pandemic.

Through it all I’ve maintained a belief that people are born good, and she who is willing to change is able to do so. I also deeply believe and have experienced in my own healing that we are not meant to do this work in isolation.
